Provides crisis and supportive counseling, crisis intervention, emotional support, information, and referral services to domestic violence and rape crisis victims.
Shelter Services
Safe accommodations, meals, clothing, and personal supplies. Includes crisis and supportive counseling, case management, children’s group, educational groups, limited transportation and support services.
Individual Counseling
Offered to adult and child victims to help them understand the dynamics surrounding domestic violence and sex crimes.
Group Counseling
Women’s Support Group - Provides support to women of domestic violence and sexual assault in a safe, comfortable setting. The group also provides education and awareness to help women reach their potential to a more enriched and fulfilling life. For more information call 301-759-9244.

* Parenting Groups available for parents struggling with children who have been abused, sexually assaulted, or who have witnessed abuse.
Supervised Visitation/Changeover
Provides monitored exchange of children and monitored on-site visitation between non-custodial parents and children from families in which there may be safety issues.

Outreach offices broaden services within the community. They provide individual and crisis
counseling for victims of all ages.

Lethality Assessment
Lethality Assessment is a tool that first responders (police officers, hotline workers) utilize to determine if a victim of domestic violence is in danger. Most importantly, the Lethality Assessment is also the identification of victims of domestic violence who are at the highest risk of being killed by their abuser. Once a victim “screens in” at being in high danger, the victim is then connected to FCRC services.
Prison Outreach
Referrals are taken from Allegany County Detention Center to provide counseling and education on domestic violence and sexual assault to inmates.
SART Services
The Allegany County Sexual Assault Response Team comprised of members from various community agencies who work together to provide a coordinated community response to victims of sexual assault. The Core Members are representatives of Western Maryland Health Systems (WMHS), law enforcement, and Family Crisis Resource Center (FCRC). FCRC provides advocacy to victims from initial contact through completion of case. Services are available to all victims of sexual assault/abuse.
Allegany County SART provides victims another option in the reporting of a sexual assault. Through the Jane Doe Reporting Protocol, victims are able to remain anonymous and still have an evidence collection kit completed by a forensic nurse. A rape victim will have 90 days to decide if she/he wants to continue with a law enforcement investigation.
Court Related Services
Accompaniment is provided to court hearings or procedures (protection order hearings, filing of criminal charges). Advocacy is provided on the victim’s behalf with professionals in the legal system.
Advocacy and Accompaniment
Assisting victims in securing rights, remedies, and services from other agencies including medical, social services, mental health, and housing.
Information and Referral
Educating victims and providing literature about the dynamics of domestic violence and sex crimes. Referrals to agencies and organizations in the community to help victims meet their individual needs.
Abuse Intervention Program
Group treatment for batterers (court ordered or voluntary). The program challenges abusers to view their use of violence as a choice, not an uncontrolled reaction to their past, their anger, their addiction, or their lack of skills.
Community and Professional Education Training
Provides training and educational programs to professionals and community members as a means of changing societal views and attitudes, informing of current services, and preventing victimization of those affected by domestic violence and sex crimes.
Cell Phone Program
Provides emergency 911 cell phones to victims as a safety precaution.
Legal Services
Eligible FCRC clients have access to legal assistance in seeking relief in civil legal matters arising as a consequence of their victimization. |
